グルーバーを手掛けているのが、神奈川の有名メガネ店、メガネナカジマの代表である、中島正貴さん。中島さんはファッションシーンの様々な重鎮たちとも親交が深く、ブーツリペアの神と評される福禄寿の奥山氏のアイウエアも手掛けているのだ。
バイクはもちろん、様々な趣味を持つ達人としても知られている中島さんの、今の気分とは？
「カメラは昔からハマっていて、出張や旅行でソニーのサイバーショットRX100、仕事の物撮り用としてはニコンのD800を使っています。それと、メガネのネジ締めや調整に使うドライバーとかの工具類も気になるモノがあれば、すぐに買っちゃう」。
In the past, as for the time when I devoted myself to a snowboarding competition
機械いじりがやっぱり好きな中島さん。意外にも彼はスノーボードアスリートとしての経歴を持っている。
「僕は高校生の頃、部活でバレーボールをしていました。たまたまバレーボールの競合校だったこともあって、大学はバレーボールの特別推薦枠で入学しました。だけど、すぐにバレーボールに飽きちゃった(笑)」。
中島さんがバレーボールを辞めた直後に始めたのが、スノーボードだった。
「バレーボールと一緒に大学も辞めて、しばらく海外とかプラプラした後、スノーボードに出会いました。当時から既にショーン・ホワイトが一線で活躍していましたね。しかも彼は8歳で(笑)。8歳の彼の滑りにかなう日本人は、既にいませんでしたよ(笑)」。

そんな中島さんも、今や二児の父。それでも遊びは欠かせない。バスケットボールは先輩のチームに入って以来、20年来続けているとのこと。そしてスノーボード熱も再燃しているとそうだ。
「上の子はまだ6才なんですが、ちゃんとしっかり滑れるようになったし、こどもたちと一緒に滑るのが楽しくてしょうがない(笑)。冬には新潟や山梨に日帰りで滑りに行っています」。
もちろんバイクだって忘れてはいない。
「特に“今日は走りに行くぞ! ”っていう感じではないんですよね。こないだも五日市街道にある梁山泊にチャーハンを食べにバイクで行きました」。

Of course, the motorcycle has not forgotten either.

The play is indispensable in now when I became father of two children.
「It is an opportunity that I obtained what I have begun to get on by transfer from my friend. I like it because it is light and is easy to get on. At the same, because not suitable for chopper custom due to the oil frame, and not the first pick for the recent Triumph rider (lol). 中島さんが約10年間乗り続けている愛車は、トライアンフのT140。T140に10年にも渡って乗り続ける理由とは？
「乗り始めたのは友人から譲り受けたのがきっかけです。軽くて乗りやすいから僕は好きですね。それと、オイルフレームでチョッパーカスタムには向いていないから、最近のトラ乗りたちからはまず選ばれる事はない(笑)。こういう王道から少し外れた存在感っていうのも、僕にとってはツボなんですよね(笑)」。
さらに走行中の故障も度々起こることから、友人たちに迷惑をかけたくないいう理由で、バイクに乗る時はもっぱら１人と言う中島さん。
肩肘を張らない絶妙な抜け感のあるバイクとの付き合い方が、中島さん流と言える。
